Solos

Emit

Silence

A whisper

A character

A word

Two words

Together

Joining to make a stanza

We speak

In harmony

Volume

Raw

Filaments of magazines

Satellites and tambourines

Control commercialization by our realization

That past and future are entwined

A grain of rice

That man and mice

Are bound by the cycle and progress of time

That orchard tree is grown once again

And we are dumb to speak

That through ages, strong and weak

The prison and fortress that is humanity

Forever holds itself accountable for the cycles of our fate

So man, that Phoenix, need not worry

Noon

Whispering of an aria

A steamboat’s hum passes in and out through the daybreak

Pale blue light shimmering in through a million windows

Bells and whistles ebbing through chaotic winds

An occasional tapping outside the door

Infinite reverberation of a singular whisper

I find solace in these quiet corners

Dylan Thomas
