Many of the wonderful things that occur at The Jefferson School depend heavily on donors like you. Thanks to generous gifts last year, The Jefferson School was able to support a comprehensive study of Tanzania, stage a school wide Annie musical, sponsor students in regional academic competitions, participate in community outreach programs and invest in school growth through the addition of a PR specialist.
As you know, tuition alone does not cover all of the school’s operating expenses. Your tax-deductible contribution to the annual appeal is crucial to maintaining our exceptional curriculum. Your gift this year will help fund:
- New physical education equipment to provide children more health-enhancing activities
- Additional software for the new laptops received through the Marmot Foundation grant to help children improve their information-processing skills
- A middle school choral group to help children develop vocal skills and acquire an appreciation for music
- Enhanced classroom materials to support our project-based curriculum, which motivates students to engage in learning

Several school groups work together to promote exciting and profitable fundraising events throughout the year. While financially benefiting The Jefferson School, the events are also a great way for the school community to come together, show their support and have a great time!
Beach Bash
This dinner and dance is held every year in October. Hors d’oeuvres, cocktails, a sit-down dinner, live and silent auctions and dancing make this evening a fun way to support the school and start the academic year. Tickets go on sale in August. Individual and corporate sponsorships, in addition to donations of silent and live auction items, are accepted throughout the year.
Comedy Night
Our annual comedy night, held in early March or April, features performances by professional comedians, hors d'oeuvres, a cash bar and more. Sponsorship opportunities for the sell-out event range from $100 to $7,000.
The Surf Bagel 5K/l0K Scholarship Race
Held on Mothers Day each year, the Surf Bagel Race begins at Cape Henlopen High School and continues through historic Lewes. The race benefits the Tuition Assistance Program at The Jefferson School. This program was created to allow children who might not be able to attend the school for financial reasons an opportunity to enroll. Walkers and runners raise money for the fund by obtaining pledges from family and friends. Corporate sponsorship opportunities for the race range from $200 to $1,000.
